Knowing Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar The Preserver of Indian Women.

There was oppression, casteism and hierarchical practice in Indian Society. Indian women were first victim of above mention practices. They were degraded by bad hammer of social evil. When that condition was saw by Dr. Ambedkar, he was understood the reality and he want a need to abolish their social practices. Dr. Ambedkar realized and wanted to uplift status of women's through Hindu Code Bill.


In 1948, Hindu Code Bill was being introduced in the Constituent Assembly. It had eight sections amended by select committee. These were, I. depict who would be Hindu II. Related to marriage, III. Manifest adoption, IV. Reveal guardianship, V. Related to joint family, property, allocation of property to women, VI. Wariness about women's property, VII. & VII. Policies regarding to succession and maintenance.



The above sections were discussed and amended by select committee. But Dr. Ambedkar's Hindu Code Bill cited different rights to women. i.e., She has right to concede divorce against her husband. There was one joint family and property ownership rights as well as daughter of family has right of property portion etc. Today, have various law which stand for upliftment of women these laws have background history of Dr. Ambedkar's efforts towards women emancipation. In current segment there are, The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act - 2006 its defined child marriage and secure their age of maturity to marriage. Dowery Prohibition Act - 1961 the practice of dowery present today also but in hide and seek mode. Indian Divorce Act - 1969, Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace - 2013, Etc. Why these acts came in force? We have learnt in history of Indian Women, their social, educational, political and physical abasement was there. Today, the Constitution of India bestowed Indian Women their natural rights. So, we think about, why hadn't anyone wanted to uplift Indian Women in the form of constitutional rights? The only man was there done efforts for constitutional empowerment of women. Therefore, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was called the preserver of Indian Women.
